and all they have is loss

down below the ridge
cottonwood dropped its last leaves
but something still remembers them all

and as for me I walked away from there
to find that only the cold
can tell the true story of place
just how hard it is
to find a way
and that's space
holiness despite absence of life

all of all despite not having a hand
